acrocheck™ 3.1 – The New Version

Berlin, October 20, 2006. It has become an acrolinx tradition to present a new version of acrocheck™ at the tekom fall conference in Wiesbaden. This time the highlights include: checking PDF documents, integration with the AuthorIT Web Editor, additional options in terminology management, and enhanced standard rules.

Checking PDF documents

Alongside integration with editors MS Word, Arbortext Editor, XMetaL, Adobe FrameMaker, and AuthorIT Web Editor, it is possible to check other formats using a special client. Previously, the acrocheck Batch Client was able to check TXT, HTML and XML formats. Starting with version 3.1, PDF documents can also be supported. In marketing and other areas, PDF is often used for text proofs. Now, these documents can also be checked for style, terminology, grammar, and spelling without the original source application. This is a further important component on the path to using language and consistent, corporate terminology.

Integration with AuthorIT

AuthorIT is an editing application based on the single-source concept. AuthorIT is used successfully across the globe. Starting at the end of 2006, AuthorIT will support the acrocheck™ integration for both the desktop and web editor versions. Initially, acrocheck™ will be available in AuthorIT Desktop Editor and the web client. In the future, integration will also be extended to the AuthorIT Project Manager.

Terminology search: better results

When checking texts for deprecated terms, acrocheck™ version 3.1 uses a combination of linguistic procedures and fuzzy matching. As a result, search accuracy is significantly improved – and checking time is reduced. The number of terms which can be checked has increased dramatically once again and is practically unlimited with version 3.1.

Enhanced standard rules

acrocheck™‘s style rule sets for German and English have been expanded substantially once again. Experience from numerous projects and the results of discussions with various organizations in the industry contributed to these style rule sets. The style rule sets represent best practices and many companies adopt them without any additional customization.
