DAF Trucks Uses Acrolinx Technology to Create Clear and Consistent After-Sales Information

Berlin — September 28, 2017 — DAF Trucks, Europe’s premier commercial vehicle manufacturer, uses the power of Acrolinx to help its technical writers create consistent, high-quality content. Acrolinx provides an automated linguistic check that allows writers to improve the clarity of after-sales information. This allows dealers and technicians to complete repair and maintenance jobs faster and more cost-effectively. Ultimately, clear and easy-to-follow content paves the way for great customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Content quality impacts customer experience

Before Acrolinx, it was challenging for technical writers at DAF Trucks to ensure consistent terminology and tone of voice across all their content. Since the quality of after-sales content directly impacts after-sales service, the company was looking for a software solution to help ensure a strong customer experience.

“We wanted to improve the quality of our source content as well as the quality and cost efficiency of our translations,” says Age Knossen, Head of Technical Information, Training & Diagnostics at DAF Trucks. “We have a lot of writers creating all kinds of content about the same items, but from different perspectives. Within Diagnostics, we’d call an item X, and within Parts & Jobs we’d call it Y. But it’s the same technician having access to all the information, which is very confusing. And if you do it wrong in the source language, it will be even worse in the subsequent translations. We want the end user to find a consistent brand language in all of our publications.”

Consistency yields results across the company

DAF Trucks lowers the cost of its translations into up to 24 languages by checking the English source content with Acrolinx. Additionally, Acrolinx ensures the company’s technical content (including warnings) is distinct and legally appropriate.

The positive effects of consistent content are visible in other teams as well; for example, at the Help Desk. If a complaint comes in, the technician now automatically uses the correct terminology, which helps the support team resolve issues faster.
