Machine and production facility manufacturer uses corporate language platform to speak with one voice

Santa Clara, Calif. — July 7, 2015 — Using the Acrolinx platform helped GROB to standardize terminology and keep a consistent corporate language throughout the company while also reducing translation costs significantly. Headquartered in Mindelheim, Germany, the GROB Group is a global manufacturer of machine and production solutions for the automotive industry, including international suppliers, as well as for various metalworking sectors.

Acrolinx meets all requirements

Prior to introducing Acrolinx, a project team spent a year defining specific needs and goals while evaluating several technical solutions. GROB chose the Acrolinx platform due to its leading position, easy handling, wide functionality and the fast and professional support of Acrolinx.

Terminology database simplifies writing and editing processes

After collecting all terms in a concept-driven database, GROB now registers and manages terminology with Acrolinx throughout the company. At this point, the database includes more than 100,000 terms in all company and customer languages. The Acrolinx platform automatically checks recurring text blocks as well as compliance to style and spelling rules. Additionally, editing processes follow specific rules to ensure a consistent and customer-oriented presentation on the international market.

Company-wide implementation planned

“Terminology costs money; no terminology costs more money,” says Manuel Hörmann, project manager for terminology management in the GROB Group. Using Acrolinx has significantly lowered translation costs and proved to be very helpful within technical documentation. For these reasons, GROB is planning to implement Acrolinx in their engineering, commissioning, project management and sales departments as well. In the long-term, more than 1,000 users are expected to work with the Acrolinx platform.
